Well, here goes nothing. I started a blog, woot! I just wanted a place to share my thoughts and feelings. The story below is what really sparked all of this.
The first week of January this year I had a bit of a health scare. Jennifer (my amazing wife, who you will read tons about through this blog) and I were out shopping and all the sudden crazy chest pains. I had no idea what the hell was going on. I'm a 28 year old dude for heavens sake. Long story short, I ended up in the ER! Diagnosed with gallbladder disease and had to have emergency surgery to remove the organ. It was packed full of gallstones and in order to avoid the risk of future attacks, surgery was the only option.
The whole ordeal totally sucked but also woke me up. It made me open my eyes when it came to my own health and the health of my loved ones. I wanted to find out how and why it all happened to me in the first place. Like I said, 28, active, thought I ate fairly well. I mean we all have our vises, right? I've always been a "skinny" guy, I figured I could eat whatever, whenever because my weight would never change. Too much fast food, too much junk food, too much soda, quite frankly...I was eating too much shit. No respect for my body and there I was in the operating room because of it all.
I've spend the past 2 months reading about the food we eat and how it relates to our health. Researching the internet wanting to find out more, wanting to change the way I ate. I always knew the food we all are accustomed to eating wasn't exactly the greatest for us but I had no idea that it was as bad as it is. Everyone should watch or read, Food, Inc.
The past is the past and there is nothing I can do to change it. What I can change is my future. Sense that first week of this year I made a vow to eat healthy and live healthy. I just wish I didn't have to go through the pain and scare of the whole gallbladder issue to kick me into gear.
So, all that said. Here is my own little space in the internet to share thoughts, recipes, articles, opinions, etc. and follow me through my daily life.
Cheers!
